Sarauw leads Education/Ritz to win over HP&R in softball

Levron Sarauw Jr. belted a two-run home run in the sixth inning to propel Education/Ritz to a 13-9 victory over HP&R/Waste Management in Game 2 of the Governmental and Industrial Coed Slow-pitch Softball League championship series on Monday.

The series is knotted at one game apiece and continues this week at Emile Griffith Ballpark on St. Thomas.

Leon Martin Jr. had three hits in four plate appearances for HP&R, while Akeem Francis and Keba Martin combined for four hits.

Despite having fewer hits and committing five field errors, Education was able to win with all seven of its hits scattered. Frankie Brathwaite was the winning pitcher.

St. Thomas Region 9-a-side Men's Soccer League

Raymix opened a three-goal lead at halftime and was able to hold on for a 3-2 victory over New Vibes in a decisive St. Thomas Region 9-a-side Men's Soccer League match Sunday at UVI.

With the win, Raymix finished the one-round event with 13 points and secured the league title. They were followed by New Vibes and the Never Give Up with 10 points each.

Jamie Browne, Trevor Wrensford and Conell George each found the net for Raymix in the first half. New Vibes' Brian Charlery scored their first goal with 10 minutes left before Dusty Goody scored just before time expired.

Twin City Cricket League

Unique Tropical Sports Club met True Players in the seventh 40-over game of the Twin City Men's Cricket League on St. Croix on Sunday. True Players batted first and scored 139 runs. Byron Charles had the most runs at 29 with Sherville Huggins coming a close second with 25. True Players was all out (10 wickets) in the 35th over.

After the break, Unique Tropical Sports Club went to bat. They came off to a slow, steady start with Carlton Daniel scoring 27 runs, followed by Hudson Browne with 32.

Unique won the game with 143 runs, losing 5 wickets. Hudson Browne and Hugh Nicholas tied for Man of the Match. The legue's second round starts Sunday at The New Drive-Inn.

Plaskett East Little League

Christian Rasmussen had two hits and two RBIs to lift the Dodgers to a 4-0 victory over the Expos in a 10-12 division game in the Elmo Plaskett East Little League Sunday on St. Croix.

Aldemar Santos Jr. was the winning pitcher while going 2-for-3 and driving in a run for the Dodgers.

Chamoy Chandler had a hit to pace the Expos, who had Lenny Berrios on the mound.

Suns 19, Angels 0

Kimoi Ferdinand finished with three hits, three RBIs and a home run to pace the Suns in a 19-0 win over the Angels in a 10-12 division game Sunday. Juan Aponte was the winning pitcher and had two hits and drove in two runs on offense for the Suns.

Blazers 28, Angels 18

Amari Krigger went 3-for-3 from the plate and drove in three runs to spark the Blazers to their 28-18 win over the Angels in a 10-12 division game Saturday. Devon Daniel had three hits, a home run and five RBIs for the Blazers, while Kevin Passee was the winning pitcher. Shamie Roebuck went 3-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Angels.

Suns (East) 10, Twins (West) 5

Juan Aponte drove in two runs to lift the Suns to a 10-5 victory over the Twins in a 10-12 division game Saturday. Amante Todman finished with an RBI for the Suns, while Kimoi Ferdinand was the winning pitcher. D'Andre Williams had three hits and an RBI to pace the Twins.

Plaskett West Little League

Luis Baez was the winning pitcher and yielded only four hits to lift the Reds to a 10-9 victory over the Twins in a 10-12 division game in Elmo Plaskett West Little League Baseball action Sunday on St. Croix.

R. Swanston went 3-for-3 and knocked in three runs for the Reds, while C. Miller finished with three hits and two RBIs to pace the Twins.

Angels (West) 7, Reds (East) 0

Pitcher Marquis Christian threw a no-hitter and led the Angels to a 7-0 win over the Reds in a 10-12 interleague division game Saturday. D. Brandy went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Angels.

Angels 7, Twins 6

Pitcher Adanske Henry Jr. surrendered just two hits to lift the Angels to a 7-6 win over the Twins in a 10-12 division game Friday. Mark Christian was the Angels' leading hitter, while Demar Brow went 2-for-3 for the Twins.

Vikings 12, Angels 9

Alvin Bernard drove in two runs for the Angels, but it wasn't enough as the Vikings held on for a 12-9 victory in a 7-9 division game Saturday. C. Maynard went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Vikings.
